God designed each child so uniquely that no child fits squarely in the middle of any set of characteristics during any age or stage. Each child develops at their own pace: the WEE Learn curriculum compliments this philosophy. We will not expect your child to learn to the alphabet, number concepts, shapes, and colors while sitting regimented at a table; however, each of these concepts will be presented daily using an age appropriate integrated approach. The whole language approach is something you can continue to build upon at home. The purpose of the WEE
Learn Curriculum is to provide a framework on which teachers can build an early childhood program that allows and encourages children to develop separately, across five domains.
Meeting Three-Year-Olds Physical Needs:
The three-year-old needs lots of room to run, jump, and play. With a three there is more improvement in finer motor skills, allowing them to control their arms and hands better. The threes will have more time to socialize, pretend, create, and (if needed) complete potty training. We will provide low steps, slides, sand and mud, water play, paint and other activities that help in the development of the fine motor skills in your three-year-old.
Meeting Three-Year-Olds Mental Needs:
We will meet your three-year-olds’ mental needs by helping them count objects less than ten. During play, we will use directional words such as up, down, over and under and relate them to actions or meanings. We will also provide dress up props in Homeliving and transportation toys that allow your child to use their imagination and pretend. Stories are also a large part of your child’s mental needs. Being read to, acting out plays, learning silly motions to songs, and having your child tell stories of their own help your child to explore and distinguish between pretend stories and real life or the Bible. The joys of wonder-filled Learning Centers can meet many of the needs of the growing minds of threes.
Meeting Three-Year-Olds Emotional and Social Needs:
Three-year-olds can talk and make conversation, and they are becoming aware of the feelings of others. Your three-year-old will be able to express their emotions and verbalize their feelings to the other children in their classroom as well as their teacher. Threes also like to be helpers and enjoy pleasing their friends and teachers. We will provide plenty of activities, such as cooking, that get your child involved and allow them to be helpers.
Meeting Three-Year-Olds Spiritual Needs:
Our teachers will encourage spiritual development of your child by placing a Bible and Bible- related books where they can handle them. They will also sing and tell short Bible stories. Throughout the day prayer will be emphasized.
It is our desire that we offer a program that has age-appropriate learning centers which allows children to be children in an enriched environment where concepts of God, Jesus, the Bible, church, self, family, and the natural world and others are taught.
