Philosophy: Gods Design for
the Development of Four-Year-Olds

God designed each child so uniquely that no child fits squarely in the middle of any set of characteristics during any age or stage.  Each child develops at their own pace; the WEE Learn Curriculum compliments this philosophy.  We will not expect your child to learn the alphabet, number concepts, shapes, and colors while sitting regimented at a table; however, each of these concepts will be presented daily utilizing an age appropriate integrated approach. The whole language approach is something you can continue to build upon at home.  The purpose of the WEE Learn Curriculum is to provide a framework on which teachers can build an early childhood program that allows and encourages children to develop separately, across five domains.

Meeting Four-Year-Olds Physical Needs:
Four-year-olds have an abundance of energy and need a lot of space to run, jump and climb. We will provide a large outdoor space where they will have plenty of freedom to move and play.  At the age of four, children’s art skills are a little more developed, and they are able to draw and paint with a little more detail. They can also cut with scissors more accurately.  We will have plenty of time for your child to work on these skills and help to further develop their hand-eye coordination.

Meeting Four-Year-Olds Mental Needs:
At four, a child is better able to remember things, such as their birthday, a story they really like, or every detail of the camping trip they took last week.  They also love to use their imagination.  Sharing their stories along with make believe stories is very enjoyable to them, and they will have plenty of time to share what they know.  Learning silly songs and rhymes is very enjoyable to them as well.  This is also a great age to practice colors beyond just the primaries and to count numbers above ten.  Reading poems of fun and frolic with silly sounds and rhyming rhythms is something that will be done often in the classroom.  A four-year-old is also very inquisitive. They love to ask questions.  And we will be there to help them find the answers.

Meeting Four-Year-Olds Emotional and Social Needs:
The four-year-old is very sure of them self and wants to be very independent.  To help this leap toward independence, we will provide lots of special helper jobs, such as the line leader, door holder, prayer leader, and other various jobs with which the four-year-old would want to help.  A four also knows how to share, and will be commended when they work or play well together.

Meeting Four-Year-Olds Spiritual Needs:
Four-year-olds can refer to Bible stories and love to hear them being told.  They also love to sing Bible-related songs and learning fun motions and movements is very interesting to them.  They also enjoy learning Bible verses, and are praised upon greatly when they do.  They can better understand that Jesus was born a baby and grew to be a man that helped others.  Talking, singing, and activities built around Bible stories are something that will be implemented in the classroom regularly.  This will help your preschooler to build a better foundation about Jesus.

It is our desire that we offer a program that has age-appropriate learning centers which allows children to be children in an enriched environment where concepts of God, Jesus, the Bible, church, self, family, and the natural world and others are taught.
