Children will be excluded from attending Hiz Kidz
First if they have any of the following symptoms indicating they are contagious:
- Fever: Auxiliary temperature
over 99 degrees. Oral or tympanic temperature over 100 degrees. The
child may not return until after the fever has been broken for at least
24 hours.
- Behavior: If a child looks or acts
differently; example: pale, unusual crying, irritable, restless, lethargic,
lack of appetite and/or refusal to eat, complaining of discomfort.
- Respiratory: Breathing difficulties;
example: wheezing, excessive coughing.
- Vomiting/ Diarrhea: Characterized
by three or more watery stools within a six hour period. If any medication
that the child is currently taking might result in watery stool, the
teacher should be notified.
- Rash: Undiagnosed rash other than
mild diaper or heat rash.
- Nasal Discharge: If nasal discharge
is green or yellow in color rather than clear.
- Hoarseness: Indication of sore throat.
- Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Redness
of eye with burning and thick purulent discharge. May return 24 hours
after start of treatment.
- Head Lice or Nits: Child will be
excluded until ALL nits are removed and hair is lice and nit free.
- Impetigo: Blisters covered with honey-colored
crusts. Child will be excluded until at least 24 hours after start of
medication.
- Chicken Pox: Child will be excluded
until all lesions are dry and crusted, which will be approximately seven
days after occurrence of first lesions.
Strep Throat: Child will be excluded until 24 hours after start of oral
medication or 24 hours after injection.
- Scabies: Small raised reddened areas
or blisters with connecting grayish-white lines. Child will be excluded
until under adequate treatment and no open lesions are observed.
- Ringworm of Body: Flat, spreading,
ring-shaped spots. The child may return after treatment has begun and
the lesion has started to shrink and is covered with bandages.
If you are contacted by the school to pick
up your child who is ill, you must be here within thirty minutes.
